Chapter Lead - Product Management

Volvo Cars (Swedish: Volvo personvagnar), stylized as VOLVO, is a Swedish luxury vehicles company.
It is headquartered on Torslanda in Gothenburg and is a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive company Geely.
The company manufactures and markets sport utility vehicles, station wagons, sedans and compact executive sedans.
The Volvo Group was founded in 1927 as a subsidiary of the ball bearing manufacturer SKF.
When AB Volvo was introduced on the Stockholm stock exchange in 1935, SKF sold most of the shares in the company.

What do we offer?
While Volvo is pushing the boundaries on several fronts – autonomous driving, vehicle electrification, cutting-edge vehicle engineering design, and more – some of the most exciting action is happening in the Consumer and Enterprise Digital area.

We are uniquely positioned with our talent within CED to shape what’s next in automotive.
We are taking consumer-facing technology around the driving experience to places most players are only dreaming about – and changing how people think about transportation as a result.

We’re fully committed to giving Volvo customers an entire week of quality time back per year already by 2025 through digital innovations that simplify their lives.

Within the enterprise, digital technology will provide vast opportunities to change the way we develop, produce and market cars.
We are delivering leading enterprise products to power the digital future for Volvo Cars.

What’s in it for you?
Within Enterprise Digital a major transformation has been initiated, where a new organization has been implemented to increase flexibility, productivity and create a home for our experts.

The model is centered around persistent product teams focusing on business outcomes within Product Areas that are aligned to Volvo Cars main value flows.
Persistent teams are mixing people with the right competencies to make sure that the desired business outcomes can be delivered.

While people spend their time working in product teams, they also belong to a Chapter together with all other people sharing the same competence and skill profile.
This is where our people truly develop their expertise, skills, and career through continuous training, coaching, feedback, and interaction with peers.
This is also where the methods, tools, and ways of working are being developed and continuously improved.

We are now looking for a Chapter Lead that will take ownership of a Chapter as a whole, fostering and developing skills and expertise required for deliveries within the Product Areas and empower our people with an agile mindset and culture.

What you’ll do
The Chapter Lead is a part of our Enterprise Digital Management Team and managing the Chapter together with a group of Chapter Managers.
You will drive the daily work of building a home for our experts, responsible for developing chapter competency, ensuring peoples professional growth and career paths.
You will assess and balance competence needs between different product areas and clusters/teams including mix and sizing of people/roles.
Working with cross-pollinating knowledge and expertise across teams.

You will be the Leader of the Product Management Chapter that aims to create the strategy, roadmap and feature definition of products, services and platforms based on the principles of Product Management and helps the organization to achieve a Product Oriented mindset.

You will be managing a large team of Product Owners, Business Analysts, User Experience and Agile Initiative Leaders.
In this role you will be working to bring Enterprise Digital from a traditional waterfall environment to an agile cross-functional way of working.

In short as a Chapter Lead you are responsible for delivering the right competencies (employees and line consultants) to staff Enterprise Digital teams from your chapter.
That includes responsibilities for shaping and driving the recruitment pipeline of chapter competencies (employees and line consultants), chapter resource allocation and performance evaluations within the chapter based on team, individual and cultural aspects.
You will work to attract talents by external visibility and promote Volvo Cars as an employer of choice.

You will work to drive and safeguard relevant methodologies, processes and tools for the chapter scope as well as drive the chapter with measurable OKRs, including evaluation of outcomes achieved versus plan.

As a Chapter Lead, you are the formal line manager for people within the chapter and display dynamic leadership working with leads throughout the organization role-modeling innovation, entrepreneurial spirit, growth, and success.
Nurturing the “we culture” within your chapter.

You and your skills
To be successful in this role you need to provide business value to the product areas and clusters and be a key speaking partner to the stakeholders within the product areas.
Understand the business needs and the requirements to develop our product roadmap for the future.

We also think you have Senior Level experience leading and working with Enterprise Level Product Management.
Ideally, experience from an Enterprise that has worked through a digital transformation.
You understand the large-scale scope and working to transform a legacy environment.
Experience managing small to large teams of Product Owners, Business Analysts, User Experience and Agile Initiative Leaders.

This role requires expertise in people management, people development, coaching/feedback, and talent attraction.
You have personal leadership skills to create clarity, show courage and empower teams.
Knowledge of Agile development and SAFe framework.
You have an ability to evolve and drive the Product Management chapter to the next level together with the team.

We think you share our passion for cars and development in the auto industry.
