Everyone is important.
We need to recruit many new employees thanks to, among all, an expansion in our research activity.
We need you here.
We look forward to receiving your application!
The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences is one of the university’s largest departments, with operations mainly in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Our aim is to engage in medical and biomedical education and research of high international standing.
At undergraduate level the department is responsible for most of the medical program, the speech and language pathology program and the biomedical program.

Hereby advertises a position as PhD student in Medical science formally based at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV).

As a PhD student you will primarily devote yourself to your research.
As a PhD student you are limited to work with education and administration up to 20 percent of full time.

We are seeking a PhD student to participatein the project: “Deubiquitinases (DUBs) in Health and Disease”

Maintenance of protein homeostasis is a crucial process for the normal functioning of the cell.
The regulated degradation of proteins is primarily facilitated by the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS), a system of selective tagging of proteins with ubiquitin followed by proteasome-mediated proteolysis.
The UPS is highly dynamic consisting of both ubiquitination and deubiquitination steps that modulate protein stabilization and degradation.
Deregulation of protein stability is a common feature in the development and progression of numerous cancer types.
Deubiquitinases (DUBs) are enzyme components of the UPS that catalyze re-editing of poly ubiquitin chains and/or removal of ubiquitin from target substrates leading to alterations in protein stability and/or downstream signaling.
The project will involve the investigation of DUBs both on a cellular and biophysical level.

Qualified to PhD studentships are only those who are or have been admitted to graduate studies.
We are now looking for someone who has a master's degree in Protein Science or equivalent.

Applicants need to have a strong background in protein chemistry and cell biology.
This includes experience working with tissue culture as well as recombinant protein production and purification.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of biophysical techniques (to study structure, stability and interactions) such as CD spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy and ITC is a merit.

The employment requires that you can communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

As a person, you take the initiative for activities and achieve results.
